Field Support Chemist

Job Title: Field Support Chemist

Location: Cambridge, ON

Summary:

Provide technical and application support in the field in collaboration with the sales and marketing teams. The primary duty is to conduct instrument usage in the customer laboratories, while being recognized as a technical product expert for related applications. Provide technical advice, troubleshoot and recommend products and solutions. In addition, the Field Support Chemist will be responsible for conducting application experiments and documenting outcomes.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Perform system demonstrations at the customer sites

  • Provide application training for the customers

  • Give seminars to core facilities, user groups, and local meetings

  • Provide technical expertise and support customer service team whenever required

  • Operate and maintain instrumentation required for research and regulated laboratory analyses

  • Develop, optimize and perform protein analyses. Activities include: sample preparation, analyses and data interpretation

  • Prepare chemical solutions and perform detailed and complex analytical procedures following SOP’s and established test Protocols

  • Continue involvement of business development activities in areas related to new R&D projects based on expertise and need in the field

  • Write and review reports, protocols, and any documentation in relation with the performance of the work

  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Skills:

  • Protein biochemistry experience either through hands-on or theory

  • Instrumentation and integrated solutions experience

  • Industry cGMP experience preferred

  • Experience in developing new assays, out-of-the-box and creative thinking

  • Computer experience using software including, but not limited to, Windows, MS Office. In addition, ability to learn and use new software programs as needed

  • Thrive in fast paced work environment, be highly organized and capable of multitasking to meet required deadlines

  • Have ability to focus on critical tasks, give proper attention to detail

  • Demonstrate professional verbal and written communication skills

 

Qualifications

    •    Be highly motivated, team-player who can also work independently.

    •    Bachelor or MS degree in analytical chemistry, biochemistry or related life science area
